WANGANUI WOOL SALE

Good Prices For Crutchings

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 2 Closing rates for second shear wool pieces, fleece oddments, and crutchings sold at Wanganui today were fully maintained and perhaps in sellers’ favour says the official report of the sale. The total offering was 7678 bales—a small increase on the previous year’s. Crutchings appeared to be a little shorter than usual and certainly were softer.’ The really coarse lines that have been available in this centre in some quantities in past years appeared only occasionally scattered throughout the catalogues. Competition was good and well spread. It is probable that the biggest weight of wool will go to America and the Continent. Bradford was barely able to meet the competition, except on specialties. Australian competition was also present, particularly on the better and coarser lines of crutchings Compared with rates ruling for the small offering of crutchings at the close of the New Zealand season in Mav. prices today were par to a shade dearer. The closing rates for second shear, as well as pieces and fleece oddments, were at least fully maintained and perhaps in sellers’ favour.
