NAVY LEAGUE
Mrs H, Wyatt Life Member
Mrs H. Wyatt, who was awarded the M.B.E. in the Queen’s Birthday Honours, was made an honorary life member of the Canterbury branch of the Navy League at the annual meeting last evening, in appreciation of her 40 years’ service to the branch. Mrs W. L. Smith, who now lives in Wellington, and who has been associated with the league for 20 years, was also made an honorary life member. Lieutenant-Commander F. B. Campbell, the vice-chairman, who presided in the absence of the president (Mr P. D. Hall), expressed appreciation for the work done by both members. It was reported that the branch has a membership of about 850. The following officers were elected: president, Mr P. D. Hall; vice-chairman, Lieutenant-Com-mander F. B. Campbell; active vice-presidents, Captain A. R. Champion,, Messrs W. S. MacGibbon, A. S. Taylor, and Mrs H. Wyatt; executive committee, the active vice-presidents. LieutenantCommander Compbell, Lieutenant M. Newman, Lieutenant-Com-mander M. Sandeman, Mesdames C. W. Collins. W. Thacker. G. Simpson. D. W. Meyers, Messrs R. W. Edgley, F. Farrell, W. Cuningham and R. Poole; ex-officio members of the executive committee, the Staff Officers, H.M.N.Z.S. Pegasus, president of the Middle Watch, president of the junior branch, president of the Ex-Naval Officers’ Association, and a representative from the Sum-ner-Redcliffs sub-branch; treasurer, Mr B. S. Williams.
