Racing KNIGHT’S STAR AT TOP OF GRAND NATIONAL WEIGHTS

Knight’s Star is at the top of the handicaps for the Grand National Steeplechase and Grand National Hurdles, run at Riccarton next month.

He has 12-2, or 51b less than the maximum in the Grand National Steeplechase, and 10-13 in the hurdles. On Saturday he won .the Eric Riddiford at Trentham with 11-11. Last month he won the Auckland Racing Club’s Great Northern Steeplechase with 10-4, and the McGregor 3rant Steeplechase with 11-0. Conkeda has 10-12 in the Grand National Steeples. He won the Wellington Steeplechase last Saturday week with 10-3, .and did not race again at the meeting. Wotan’s Gold, last year’s Grand The weights are:—

National winner, with 10-3, has 10-2 this year. Peter Willonyx tops the Winter Cup weights with 10-7, 81b less than he carried into fourth place in this race a year ago. Mighty Dollar is rated the best South Island miler, with 10-6. 11b more than King of Joy, which won the Whyte Handicap on the first day of the Wellington winter meeting.

Royal Warrant, winner of the last two Winter Cups, last year with 8-1. has 8-9 this year. The Grand National Steeplechase and Winter Cup will be run on August 3, and the Grand National Hurdles on August 6.
