Beaton And Fidow May Be Matched

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 14. The Manawatu Boxing Association hopes to match the Nek Zealand light-heavy-weight champion, Charlie Beaton, of Wellington, against Lole Fidow, of Christchurch, at Palmerston North on August 3, the Manawatu officials, Messrs J. P. Warren and M. Corkin, said today. Fidow defeated the light-heavy-weight, Tau Leota, at Christchurch last week by a technical knock-out when the fight was stopped in the fourth round. The Manawatu association hopes to stage a 12-round fight between Beaton and Fidow. It will not be a title fight.
