Motor-Cycling CHAMPIONSHIP MEETINGS
Venues Allocated By Auto-Cycle Union
(New Zeaiana Press Association/ NEW PLYMOUTH, July 8. The New Zealand, North Island and South Island motor-cycle championships were allocated for the coming season by the annual conference of the New Zealand Auto-Cycle Union conference at New Plymouth yesterday as follows:
Auckland. —New Zealand senior and junior T.T., 250 c.c. beach, open and 350 c.c. airfield, North Island open beach.
Canterbury Auto-Cycle.—New Zealand senior, junior, light-weight and ultra-light-weight Grand Prix, 500 c.c. scramble. South Island 350 c.c. scramble.
Otago.—New Zealand open miniature T.T.
Massey.—New Zealand 500 c.c. miniature T.T.
Te Aroha.—New Zealand 350 c.c. miniature T.T.
Tai Tapu.—New Zealand 250 c.c. miniature T.T., South Island 500 c.c. and 250 c.c. miniature T.T. Wanganui Sports—New Zealand light-weight T.T., North Island 350 c.c. scramble.
Hamilton.—New Zealand stock reliability trial. Ixion.—New Zealand sporting trial. North Island open scramble. Wanganui Motor-racing.—New Zealand open scramble, North Island open road hill climb.
Ashburton.—New Zealand 350 c.c. scramble. South Island open and 500 c.c. scramble.
Manawatu-Orion.—New Zealand 250 c.c. scramble, N.Z.A.C.U. open trial, inter-island scramble championships. Southland.—New Zealand open beach, 350 c.c. grass hill climb. South Island open, 500 c.c. and 350 c.c beach, quarter-mile stock grass trial, quarter-mile speedway grass track, 500 c.c. road hill climb.
Bay of Plenty.—New Zealand 500 c.c. and 350 c.c. beach, 550 c.c. and 350 c.c. road hill climbs. North Island 350 c.c. beach, 350 c.c. road hill climb.
North Taranaki.—New Zealand open road hill climb. North Island 500 c.c. miniature T.T., 500 c.c. scramble.
Papakura.—New Zealand open and 250 c.c. grass hill climb.
Pioneer.—New Zealand open one mile grass track, South Island 250 c.c. scramble.
Gisborne.—New Zealand quartermile stock grass track, quarter-mile speedway grass track. North Island open miniature T.T. Waiouru.—North Island 350 c.c. miniature T.T., 250 c.c. scramble, 500 c.c. and 350 c.c. grass hill climb. Whangarei.—North Island 500 c.c. and 250 c.c. beach, 500 c.c. road hill climb.
‘ United.—North Island 250 c.c. miniature T.T.
Nelson.—South Island miniature
Ohakune.—North Island quartermile stock grass track, quarter-mile speedway glass track. South Canterbury.—South Island 350 c.c. miniature T.T., open road hill climb, 350 c.c. road hill climb.
The establishment of an interisland scramble team championship to be held in the North and South Islands in alternate years will be considered by the incoming executive of the union. The union will also give financial assistance towards the inter-island travelling expenses of the competing riders. The remit approved also provided that the executive call for applications from clubs to conduct the event.
A previous remit, moved by Mr E. Pink (Manawatu-Orion) that the union financially assist the riders competing in the championship, was also carried.
CORSAIR CLUB’S TRIALS
Results of motor-cycle trials held at Eyreton by the Corsair Motor Club on Sunday were: — Experts.—V. Rush, 26 points lost; P. Archer, 54; E. Norris, 60; D. Hern, 73; R. Stewart, 75; J. Titmos, 92; R. Plummer, 91; R. Shearman, 145; W. Rush, 167; B. Roberts, 259.
Novice. —D. Whitworth, 71 points lost; K. Tweedie, 75; B. McKenzie, 79; C. Jones, 96; J. Penney, 102; C. Batchelor, 123; R. Goodwin, 146; B. Wallers, 240; B. Kanard, 258; J. Kearns, 283.
TRAP SHOOTING
Christchurch Club Titles
The Christchurch Gun Club’s championship, held on Saturday, was won by J. Brightling, of Chertsey, after a shoot-off with C. Streeter and C. Stott. Twenty-four 'targets were broken by the three in the first shoot, and in the shoot-off, Brightling broke 23. Streeter, of Amberley, was runnerup, with 21 breaks in the shoot-off. There were 29 entrants.
Next best scores were: —W. H. Walker, C. Malzard, 23; B. G. Begg, R. E. Mcllwrick, F. W. Geddes, K. D. Smith, T. Everett, R. Burnett, 22. A B grade championship, which was held in conjunction with the club championship, was won outright by H. B. Barker, with 18 breaks. Next best scores were:—J. Berry 17, M. Wannacott and A. Berry, 12.
There were 45 entries in the club double-rise championship, which resulted in a tie between S. R. Marston and T. Everett, with 17 breaks. In the shoot-off the title went to Everett., with Marston runner-up. The next best scores weit:—C. Skinner, A. Greenwood, C. Booker, J. Brightling, A. Fraser, 15 breaks. The B grade double-rise championship was won by J. Berry, with 14 breaks. Next best scores were A. Berry 12, J. Johnston and A. Idiexu
