BALLROOM DANCING

Festival Held This Week

Thirty-six candidates were examined for gold and gold-star medals in ballroom and Latin-American dancing at a festival of dance held by the Federal Association of Teachers of Dancing of Australia and New Zealand.

The examiner and judge, Mr J. Boneham, of Auckland, congratulated the Christchurch committee members on the organisation of the festival and the standard of dancing. The results of the gold and goldstar tests will be announced simultaneously with those of. tests of a further 100 candidates whose examinations for bronze, silver, and sil-ver-star medals will be held this week-end.

Results of championships were: Canterbury Maiden Championship. —Heat 1: Eric Marshall and Dawn Marshall 1, G. Curtis and Miss L. Rhodes 2, Jack Richards and Jean Richards 3. Heat 2: Dennis Peacock and Lorraine Mitchell 1, John Morgan and Janette Grey 2, Frank Grey and Pamela Franks 3. Heat 3: Richard Handisides and Caroline Hollis 1, Harold Baker and Colleen McKee 2, Ronald Cogger and Merle Olin 3. Final: Richard Handisides and Caroline Hollis 1, Dennis Peacock and Lorraine Mitchell 2, Eric Marshall and Dawn Marshall 3.
