WINTER HEALTH ADVICE

Care In Daily Habits Urged

Winter is the . time to take a little bit more care with our daily habits—how we dress, how we eat, how we oragnise our exercise, sleep and recreation, says a Health Department bulletin. There is nothing more conducive to lowering the body's resistance, for instance, than cold, wet feet. Body temperature drops, becomes chilled, and this is just when it is convenient for cold and influenza bugs to move in and take over.

Watch your clothing this winter. Waterproof shoes, warm boots, keep you cosy and lessen chances of chilblains. Girls and young women are major offenders in under-dressing in winter. The smartness of winter clothing and fabrics these days means you can wear warm clothing and still look feminine and chic. The quick changes of our climate demand an ever-ready extra “woolly” on hand. Warm Clothing

Warm, light clothing traps the air around the body and insulates it against heat loss. Plenty of brisk exercise keeps circulation busy. Do not underestimate the importance of the proper amount of sleep in a well-aired room. Get the free vitamin giving sunshine on your skin when, you can. Watch your. diet.' If you have been used to plenty of solid winter puddings, cakes and biscuits and tea, be adventurous and try the effects of milk, fresh fruits and crisp vegetables, even in midwinter.
