Judgment In Fiji Rating Case

The Judicial Committee of the Privy Council today affirmed a rating valuation of £110,493 reached, in the Magistrate’s Court at Lautoka, Fiji, in respect of 650 acres of land in Lautoka belonging to the Colonial Sugar Refining Company, Ltd. • Their Lordships delivered their reserved judgment in the appeal brought by Mr S. A. Tetzner, the town valuer, from the Fiji Supreme Court’s ruling in May, 1954, that his valuation, originally £161,297, .was made on a wrong principle and remitting the matter to the Magistrate’s Court for a fresh valuation.
