CAR RUNS INTO RIVER

Workmen Rescue Passengers A car ran into the Heathcote river yesterday morning when it was being backed on to the road. It was driven by Mr D. McF. Shirlaw, of 93 Ashgrove terrace, and with him in the car were his wife and his invalid daughter, Miss Joan Snirlaw. • Workmen rescued Mr Shirlaw and his family from the car. which was submerged to the bottom of the windows. Mrs Shir.law, who suffered facial injuries, was taken by St. John ambulance to Burwood Hospital, where her condition last evening was satisfactory.
