Metric Measure In India.—The Indian textile service will use the metric system exclusively for all purchases and sales as from April next year. The decision was reached after a meetirig of the Indian Textile Commissioner and representatives of the Mill Owners’ and Textile Manufacturers’ Associations. The retail selling of cloth in metres will be adopted gradually and, in the meantime, all marking of cloth will be done in both yards and metres—with the metre being the primary unit.—Bombay (Reuter).
