N.Z. Girl Seasick In Swimming Race

(Rec. 10 p.m.) ATLANTIC CITY (New Jersey), June 26. An Argentinian, Alfredo Camarero, won the 25-mile marathon swim around Absecon Island yesterday from a field of 25, including six women. Margaret Sweeney, of Auckland, was forced to withdraw from the race when she was overcome by seasickness in the choppy Atlantic. Miss Sweeney became sick after about two miles, but she struggled on for another three miles before she gave up.

Camarero, with a time of 12hr 17min, finished llmin ahead of Tom Park (United States), last year’s runner-up and winner of the first two marathon swims in 1954 and 1955.
