Commonwealth statesmen representing more than a quarter of the world’s people today began week-long talks on the international situation, including Middle East affairs and the economic problems of the sterling area. The conference, for the first time in history representing 10 nations, welcomed a newcomer to mmonwealth family—the independent country of Ghana. W est Africa, whose Prime Minister (Mr Rwame Nkrumah) is taking his place in the roundtable talks. Ghana, formerly the West African British colonial territory called the Gold Coast, became a sovereign State in March.
