ABOLITION OF LAND TAX

‘‘Consideration In Budget” (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 24.

Retention or abolition of land tax will “receive every consideration in connexion with the forthcoming Budget,” the Minister of Finance (Mr J. T. Watts) has assured Federated Farmers. The Auckland branch of the federation had earlier resolved to press for abolition of the tax.

“I have a considerable amount of information about this, but would not . care to give any opinion at the present stage other than to say that it has proved to be a very controversial subject,” added Mr Watts.
