MODEL OF NEW RADAR PICKET AIRCRAFT.—A new saucer-domed radar aircraft, which will look like this model, is now in the pre-production planning stage at the Lockheed factory in Burbank, California, under a contract from the United States Navy. The flapjack-shaped radome on top of the fuselage will carry powerful new tracking radar to provide an expanded aerial warning system. Four prop-jet engines, together with turbojets in the wingtip pods, will power the twin-tailed aircraft.
