FIRED SHOTGUN IN STREET

Young Man Fined

(New Zealand Press Association) INVERCARGILL, May 14. Charges of being drunk while in possession of a shotgun, carrying a shotgun without proper or sufficient purpose, and discharging a shotgun in a public place to the danger of persons or property were admitted in the Invercargiil Magistrate’s Court this morning by Noel Trevor Cunningham, aged 25, a fencing contractor.

He was fined £l2 10s and was told that in the event of any similar offence his gun would be forfeited.

“You must realise you are a menace to the general public when in possession of a firearm and under the influence of drink,” said Mr G. A. Nicholls, S.M.

The shotgun was fired in Tay street last evening near a milk bar.
