COMMERCIAL Sharp Rise In Bids For N.Z. Insurance

Buyers of N.Z. Insurance shares on the Christchurch Stock Exchange yesterday pushed up their offers to 8/s 3d—3s above the price paid in Christchurch last Wednesday and 3d above the price paid in a sale reported in Auckland on Friday. Sellers asked 88s.

In a moderate volume of business no gains were recorded. 8.H.P., Ross and Glendining, and Woolworths sold at lower prices than in last recorded Christchurch business. Steady prices were paid for Bank of N.S.W., N.Z. Farmers’ Co-operative A. preference, Ampol, Colonial Sugar, Woolworths (N.Z.) and Kempthorne Prossers.

No Government stock changed hands but buyers again dominated the quotations.
