CLAIM MADE BY ISRAEL
Hostile Alliance Broken
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 8 p.m.) JERUSALEM, May 5. The Israeli Prime Minister (Mr David Ben-Gurion) said today that President Nasser’s dream of dominating the Arab-Moslem world vanished like smoke after the Israeli campaign against Egypt. In an address to mark the ninth anniversary of the founding of Israel, Mr Ben-Gurion said that last November’s military victory broke a three-Power Alliance (Egypt - Syria - Saudi Arabia) against Israel. Israel today demanded the intervention of the United Nations truce supervision organisation to prevent what the Israeli Government described as repeated Syrian attacks on Israeli nationals.
Late last night Syrian outposts were reported to have fired on Israeli fishermen on the Sea of Galilee, wounding three.
