Lawn Tennis DROBNY BEATS HOAD
Singles Final At Bournemouth
(Rec. 9 p.m.) BOURNEMOUTH, May 4. Jaroslav Drobny beat a casual Lew Hoad, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4, in the final of the British hardcourt tennis championship singles. The match was played in bitterly cold weather. The second set lasted only 25 minutes. Drobny got the service break in the ninth game to lead 5-4, and made short work of the next game for the set.
The third set, was marked by a nasty fall for Drobny. Drobny slipped and spawled on his back on the court. Drobny complained earlier in the week that the court surface was loose and that he found it hard to stay on his feet, because of the soft and hard textures.
