The Hungarian Government has described a proposal by the governing body of the Internationa) Labour Organisation to make an on-the-spot investigation of Hungarian trades unions as an attempt to intervene in its domestic affairs Bujf the Government has said iV,w»uld be filling to permit the TLkO.’s direc tor-gfeheral th visit Hungary “with a view to strengthening the ties between the organisation and Hungarian State bodies and social organisations.” A document on the subject from the Hungarian Foreign Minister (Mr Imre Korvath) to the United Nations Secretary-Gene-ral (Mr Dag Hammarskjold) was circulated tonight among all 81 member states. Mr Horvath challenged recent 1.L.0. resolutions about freedom of association in Hungary. He said Hungarian workers had the right to form and join trade union organisations without any discrimination.
