100 YEARS OLD TODAY
Mrs M. A. Talbot, Of Auckland
(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND. May 3. Mrs Mary Anne Talbot will celebrate her 100th birthday at hei home at 194 Garnet road, Westmere, tomorrow. Mrs Talbot was born at St John’s, Newfoundland! In 1881, she married John William Campbell Talbot, of the Royal Army. Medical Corps. The family went with Mr Talbot on postings to many parts of the Empire in the years that followed. In 1912 they came to Palmerston North, and in 1914 her husband, then Major Talbot, was commissioned to organise and administer the Trentham Military HosP Of' Mrs Talbot’s nine children, three are still living. She has 12 grandchildren. 33 great grandchildren and at least 8 great great grandchildren. Her son. Rod, who conducted the exservicemen’s programme every Sunday evening for years over IZB. died last year.
