Boxing Robinson-Basilio Fight

Press Association Copyright (Rec. 8 p.m.) CHICAGO, May 2 Sugar Ray Rooinson, holder oi the world middle-weight title for an unprecedented fourth time, indicated today that he would not be ready to defend his title against the welterweight champion. Carmen Basilio until September. Robinson won a spectacular fifth round knockout snd regained hit championship from Gene Fullmer last night. At a press conference this afternoon Robinson agreed with his financial adviser, Joe Glaser that he should "take a rest" for 60 to* 90 days.

“He has been in training tor nearly 90 days,” Glaser said “And he deserves a rest. I want him to de just as he pleases for a while without thinking about fighting.’ Robinson said that he was very willing to take on Basilio in his next match, but tne decision must be made by his handlers, and thus far the fight was only in a "talking” stage. A Robinson-Basilio fight is being talked of as a potential million-dollar match.

No London Fight For Lave

"I am the only person who can sign Lave, and I certainly have not signed for him to meet London, and I do not intend to,” he. said.

Mr Conboy said that he was prepared to let the Tongan light-heavy weight Johnny Halifini meet London Lave is at present in Canada train ing for a series of bouts.
