Fellowship At Harvard

Mr R. G. Frean. who is at present an assistant lecturer in English at Canterbury University College, expects to leave New Zealand with his wife to take up the John Knox Memorial Fellowship at Harvard University in August. The fellowship is awarded by Harvard University for a year’s post-graduate study.

After attending New Plymouth Boys’ High School Mr Frean enrolled at Canterbury College in

1949. There he took an active part in undergraduate affairs, was a 5 member of several cultural elute and was twice co-author of the capping revue. He graduated bachelor of ! science in 1953 and bachelor of arts in 1954 after studying philosophy and English. During the ‘1955 session he lectured in philosophy and in 1956 gained first class honours in English.
