DISSOLUTION OF UNIONS

Order By King Hussein

(Rec. 11 p.m.) AMMAN, May 2. From today, all trade unions and employers’ associations in Jordan are dissolved, by order of the Government. This move comes a week after King Hussein’s order dissolving the political parties, after Leftwing, anti-Government and antiAmerican demonstrations.

The curfew is today being lifted from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. and international telephone calls are again permitted in Jordan. The streets appeared normal yesterday during the festivities for the end of Ramadan.

King Hussein prayed at the Husseini Mosque.

He went there from his palace with an impressive armoured escort.
