Mr H. G. Gilpin, the City Council’s Director of Reserves, left Christchurch yesterday by air on the first stage of his trip to Britain where he is to attend the first international congress of the Institute of Park Administration. The meetings will be held from May 12 to May 29. As well as having formal conferences, delegates will be taken on a 1000-mile motor-coach tour to see the country and inspect public parks in industrial cities, seaports, seaside and inland resorts. Mr N. A. Hudson, registrar of social security in Nelson, has been promoted to assistant registrar of social security, Christchurch, to replace Mr J. P. Urquhart, who retired towards the end of last year. Mr W. Richmond, divisional officer at Christchurch, has been appointed to registrar. Nelson, and Mr T. C. Waite, of Wanganui, has been appointed to divisional officer, Christchurch. Lieutenant J. D. Joynt, of the New Zealand Army Educational Corps, will relinquish his appointment as personnel selection officer in the Southern Military district on May 23 when he will take up an appointment as assistant area officer at Area 11, Dunedin.
