Cost Of Houses
Sir, —From £5OO to £BOO above Government valuation is commonly asked for so-called mod-erately-priced homes. There is consequent delay, anxiety, and expense all round. With the increasing number of houses available, surely it would simplify matters if Government valuation plus agents’ fees were adopted throughout New Zealand. It is a far cry from the days of acute shortage, when “under-the-coun-ter” transactions were prevalent. —Yours, etc., E.F. April 29, 1957.
