Chrysanthemum Show At Lyttelton
The Lyttelton Chrysanthemum Show was opened in the Methodist Hall yesterday by the Mayor (Mr F. G. Briggs). The award for the premier bloom went to V/. Morris, who also won the J. T. Norton Challenge Cup. A trophy for the most outstanding exhibit in the decorative section was awarded to W. E. Moore. Following is the list of prize winners:— Cut Blooms.—Open class: W. Morris, 5 firsts, 1 second. Beginners’ section: G. Guttormsen, 1 first, 1 second. Miscellaneous chrysanthemums: L. J. Glasson, 2 firsts; R. Stafford, i first; Mrs E. L. Harvey, 1 first, 1 second; Mrs Newport, 2 firsts, 2 seconds; Mrs W. Stevenson, 2 firsts; Mrs W. McHarg, 1 second; Mrs A. Couch. 1 second. Children’s section: Pam Couch, 4 firsts. Decorative section: W. E. Moore, 4 firsts; Mrs E. L. Harvey, 2 firsts, 1> second; Mrs L. Luxton, 3 firsts, 2 seconds; Mrs D. Lockhead, 3 seconds; Mrs A. Couch, 1 second. Children’s section: Sharyn Ornsby, 1 first; Tessa Thomas, 1 second; Joan Thomas, 1 first; Ann Parkinson, 1 first; Maria Couch, 1 second; Kay McLeod, 2 firsts, 1 second; Pam Couch, 1 first, 2 seconds.
