(N.Z. Press Association^—.Copyright) KEMPTON PARK (Surrey), Apl. 20. Mr H. G. Glagrave’s chestnut colt, Royal Chief, won the Roseberry Stakes, run over one mile and a quarter, at Kempton Park today. He beat Mr P. Bull’s filly, Orinthia, by a neck. Mr J. U. Baillie’s gelding. Barton Street, was another length further away, third. Fifteen ran. Official starting prices: 20 to 1 Royal Chief, 11 to 2 (favourite) Orinithia, 8 to 1 Barton Street.
Later today the Queen’s chestnut colt, Deutelle, won the Two Thousand Guineas Trial Stakes, over seven furlongs.
Mr N. Collins’ colt. Super Snipe, was a length and a half away, second, with Lord Rosebery’s Copenhagen a further four lengths behind, third, in the field of seven. Royal Chief’s winning time in the Rosebery Stakes was 2min 4 2-ssec. Deutelle won the 2000 Guineas Trial Stakes in lmin2Bsec.
