Town Planning
Sir, —Is there a town-planning ; map available for publication? If not, why not? The selective zoning decision makes such a map essential. Individuals must be able to obtain such maps. There is no longer any justification for secrecy unless to conceal planning incompetency. Law abiding citizens should not be expected to have to play “blind man’s buff” when their homes and livelihood are at stake. To say a map cannot be produced for six months is nonsense. To maintain that map publication has to await residents' zoning objections is worse. Can the Mayor give the answer publicly? The council has given a ruling; it must now give the public the means.—Yours, etc.,' ALAMEIN. April 12, 1957. [The Town Clerk (Mr H. S. Feast) said that until the council’s district scheme was publicly notified the publication of a map would be neither legal nor feasible. But a map showing present zoning proposals could be examined at the City Council office.]
