C.O.R.S.O. APPEAL
£32,000 Raised In Fortnight
More . than £32,000 had been raised in C.0.R.5.0. appeals held in the previous fortnight, said the Dominion secretary (Mr C. Morrison) last Tuesday. This amount included appeals in the four main centres and several smaller towns.
The target for 1957 was £70,000, and the realisation of this amoupt now depended on appeals to be held in the smaller centres and on individual contributions, he said. These came largely from farmers, who had been sent a letter of commendation from the leaders of the three farmers’ organisations.
Mr Morrison emphasised that £70,000 was the minimum needed to carry on the work of C.0.R.5.0. Much, therefore, depended on these forthcoming appeals. Results of appeals already held are:—Auckland, £8400; Wellington and Hutt, £5888; Dunedin, £2817; Christchurch, £3679 (with seven areas still to be counted); Invercargill, £ 1300; Hamilton, £1150; Wanganui, £1101; Timaru, £723; Tauranga, £523; Rakaia, Ashburton, and Tinwald, £464; Rotorua, £460; Whangarei, £450; Thames, £200; Papakura, £183; Matamata, £150; Levin, £150; Taupo, £136; Mount Maunganui, £115; Winton. £100; Havelock North, £96; Wellsford, £77; Otautau, £7O; Warkworth, £57.
