Waikouaiti Abandoned (New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, April 17. The Waikouaiti Trotting Club's second totalisator meeting, scheduled for Saturday, has been abandoned because of the sodden state of the track and the car park. The committee went into the question of racing at Forbury Park this Saturday, but this was impossible, as the machine operating the electric totalisator will be at Addington for the last day of the Metropolitan Trotting Club s Easter meeting. The club intends to apply to the New Zealand Trotting Conference for a new date early in May, and it is hoped that the meeting will be held at Forbury Park on a midweek date. If permission is granted, fresh nominations will be called for the meeting. Eight inches of rain fell in the district last month, but an improvement in the weather on Sunday gave promise of the track drying out. However, there has been another two inches of rain since Monday, and parts of the course are under water. The club's secretary, Mr W. J. Carling, said that even if the weather took a turn for the better it would be too late for the track to be safe for racing. In addition, the main parking area on the hillside at the back of the stand would be dangerous. Forbury Park Race Stake Increased (New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, February 17. The Forbury Park Trotting Club has added £l5O to the stake for the Domain Handicap, which will be run in divisions on the first day of its winter meeting on April 27. The total stake for the race is now £550, and this will be distributed as follows:—£200 to the winner of each division, £5O for second, and £25 for third.
