N.Z. TRADE MISSION
Talks On Dairy Produce (N:Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 8 p.m.) LONDON, April 16. Members of the New Zealand trade mission and British officials have concluded their initial talks on meat and today discussed dairy produce. They also reviewed proposals for the European common market and free trade area. The leader of the New Zealand mission (Mr K. J. Holyoake) said there was no sign yet that the discussions on meat had progressed to the stage where tripartite talks of the United Kingdom, New Zealand and Australia should take place. He also said: “I, and members of the delegation, are very appreciative of the full information which the United Kingdom officials have given on the proposals for a European common market and free trade area and their implications for New Zealand. They explained the position as they understand it and there will be further talks on this subject.” Mr Holyoake conferred today with Sir George Nelson, chairman of the English Electric Company, on the supply of railway locomotives and electrical generating equipment to New Zealand.
