Special Flight For Mothers-In-Law
(Rec. 10 p.m.) SYDNEY, April 15. Seventy excited mothers-in-law are packing for a six-weeks’ visit to the United States. They are due to leave Sydney on May 8 in a Qantas Super-Constellation chartered at a cost of almost £20,000. Most of them will see daughters who have married American servicemen. “This is the world’s first ‘ma-in-law’ special flight,” the organiser, Mrs G. A. H. Watson, of Brisbane, said yesterday. The trip had been organised by the Brisbane branch of -the United States and Canadian War Brides’ Parents and Relatives’ Association. Some of the American and Canadian husbands helped to pay the fares —£250 each.
