H-BOMB TESTS IN PACIFIC
Dean Chandler Protests To Government (New Zealand Press Association) HAMILTON, April 17. The Dean of Hamilton (the Very Rev. C. W. Chandler) said yesterday that following several long-distance telephone calls, he had sent the following telegram, protesting against H-bomb tests, to the Prime Minister (Mr Holland): “I urge that we pursue no longer such a gutless policy regarding the continuance of the H-bomb tests.
“Cannot we bring honour to ourselves by standing on our own feet, and proclaiming in no uncertain terms that we protest? Untold good would follow such a decision proclaimed in the name of New Zealand, God, and our conffnon humanity.”
