DIAMOND WEDDING
Mr and Mrs H. W. Robinson, of Stoneyhurst street, St. Albans, will celebrate their diamond wedding anniversary today. Mr Robinson, who is a son of Mr William Robinson, of Hull, England, came to New Zealand in 1894 after serving for a time in the British Army. He entered the service of the Napier Harbour Board. Mrs Robinson is the daughter of James and Susan Cherry, of Dunedin. Mrs Cherry arrived at Dunedin in the ship Three Bells in 1857 from Scotland. Soon after their marriage in Napier Mr and Mrs Robinson made a trip to England and from there travelled to South Africa.
where Mr Robinson served with the Imperial Forces during the Boer War. He also served with the 12th Nelson Regiment in World War I. On his return from the war Mr Robinson was engaged in farming in the Ellesmere district until his retirement in 1930, when he went to live in Christchurch. Althought 84 years of age Mr Robinson is still a keen gardener and Mi's Robinson, who is 82, is an accomplished pianist and still keeps up her music and other artistic activities. Both have reasonably good health. Mr and Mrs Robinson have two sons and three daughters and eight grand children.
