MAN MISSING AT LOBURN

Police and civilians are searching for a man who has been missing at Loburn since Wednesday. He is Mr Charles Pelvin, aged 65, who lived alone in a hut on an orchard owned by his brother, Mr William Pelvin. Mr Charles Pelvin has lived in the Loburn district for 40 years. Mr Pelvin was last seen by his brother on Wednesday. He is believed to have worked in the orchard for a time on Thursday, for a tractor and trailer, containing 20 cases of picked apples, were found in the orchard.
Yesterday 60 local residents under the direction of Constables E. G. Smith and J. B. Gott, of Rangiora, made a widespread search, mostly in difficult country. The search will be resumed today. Mr Pelvin is sft lOin, and is of strong build. He has greying hair and blue eyes. When last seen he was wearing blue denim trousers, a wire twist shirt and brown cardigan, a hat, and possibly gumboots.
