MAORI CONFERENCE BALL

Delegates and observers who have been attending the Dominion conference of the Maori Women’s Welfare League in Christchurch this week were entertained last evening at a ball held at the Caledonian Hall. About 400 guests attended, including Dominion executive officers. Mr Te Ari Pitama welcomed in Maori the newly-elected president of the league, Mrs M. Logan, of Christchurch.

South Island groups and North Island groups alternately entertained with traditional songs and dances. Martin Winiata's band also gave items. Mrs R. Arohanga and Mrs Pitama assisted in the organising of the ball, which was sponsored by the league.
