Miss Pauline Wallis, Avonside drive, who has been in Sydney for the last three months, will leave Australia soon. in the Southern Cross for Britain, where she plans to spend the next two years teaching.

A talk on the flower gardens of Holland was given by Mrs ten . Hove, who was the guest speaker at the monthly meeting of the Beckenham-Huntsbury Garden Club. She wore the national costume of Holland. Mrs A. J. Hall presided. Competition results were: decorative, class A, arrangement of white-petalled flowers, Mrs H. D. Robson 1, Mrs G. Hosking 2, Mrs L. D. Roberts 3; class B, Mrs McClelland 1, Mrs W. Moodie 2; novice, Mrs C. A. Rose 1, Mrs C. E. Holmes 2; arrangement for breakfast tray, Mrs F. A. Robertson 1, Mrs S. Brown 2; class B, Mrs C. The annual meeting of the Riccarton Sub-centre of the Red Cross Society was held in th? Town Hall. Reports showed that 170 new and 130 second-hand garments were forwarded to th? centre. Donations were made to Burwood Hospital, Rannerdalu Home, Hungarian relief, and the Red Cross building fund. Parcels were sent to a Greek child sponsored by the sub-centre. The following officers were elected:— President, Mrs J. Montgomery; vice-presidents. Lady Clark-Hail, Mesdamcs Foster. Perry, Vivian. J. Fazackerley, Kyle, Jones, and Miss Kincaid; secretary, Mrs H.
