Favourites Win Main Events At Manawatu

PALMERSTON NORTH, April 10. Finishing with a solid run Scottish Command won the Palmerston North Handicap on the second day of the Manawatu Trotting Club’s meeting at Awapuni today. Speculation ran on from the middle of the field for second and Bindora was third.

Silent Scot led all the way to win the Ashhurst Handicap and Worthy Boy was also in front from start to finish to win the Takaro Handicap in a good finish with Lady Belwin. Legislate was close up third. The double Silent Scott-Worthy Boy paid £2l 17s 6d. The day was fine and for a week day there was a good attendance. The totalisator handled £26,320 10s. Last year's meeting was only a twoday one.

After the Awapuni Handicap an objection was lodged against the third placing being awarded to Marauder on the grounds of galloping. Marauder was disqualified and Four Winds promoted to third and Pukatutu to fourth.

After the first division of the Feilding Handicap a complaint was lodged against G. Logan, the driver of Dolly Dinks, for careless driving, causing interference. Logan was fined £l5.

An objection against the third placing in the Ashhurst Handicap being awarded to Rambling Wi'en on the grounds of interference to Major Ferguson was dismissed. I. W. Dickie was fined £l5 for causing interference. and Mr L. McFarlane was fined £5 for failing to nominate all persons interested in the horse Astoria. Results:—
