Firm Markets For Most Issues

A large turnover on the Christchurch Stock Exchange yesterday was confined to comparatively few issues. Gains were recorded over last Christchurch business by several shares which have mainly been selling at Higher prices elsewhere since last local business. The higher prices were paid for National Insurance, Dalgety A, Coles, K.P. Drugs, Reid Rubber and Waltons. The 20s paid for Coles is the highest price paid in New Zealand since the announcement of the new issue. Christchurch Gas, contributing, N.Z. Insurance and Woolworths were slightly easier. Rank, breweries and frozen Meat shares were firmer on quotation.
