Colin George McCrone, aged 38, a painter, charged with stealing an axe valued at £l, the property of Christine Anderson, on March 15, was remanded to April 15. TRAFFIC BREACHES Traffic offenders prosecuted by the Transport Department were fined as follows: — Exceeding 30 miles an hour: Edward Lyall Awdry, £2; Robert Edwin Bennett, £2 (no warrant of fitness, £1); Robert Thomas Carlyle, £2; Kenneth Maxwell Collett, £2; Edward Roger Duckmanton, £3; Rana Vane Robertson, £2. Driving without due care and attention: Edward Noel Miles, £2.
Supplying false 'information: Leonard Charles Hamilton, £5. Exceeding heavy traffic licence: John Ryan, Ltd., £3. Permitting use of unlicensed vehicle: Ernest Williamson, £5. In charges brought by the Christchurch City Council Traffic Department offenders were penalised as follows: — Exceeding 30 miles an hour: Graham Aiderton, £3 (no driver's licence, £2); Martinus Van Beynen, £4; Eugene Keith Brosnahan, £2 (no warrant of fitness, £1).
Permitting bicycle to be towed: Cedric Benny, £2. No warrant of fitness: Leighton Leslie Butler, £1; Arthur John Garlick, £l.
Unlighted motor-cycle: Neil Peter Beri, £3. No driver’s licence: Paul Doring £2 (no warrant of-fitness, £1); Brent James Houston, £5 (no warrant of fitness, £3).
Driving vehicle other than specified on a licence: Bruce Henry Everest, £3; Richard Alan Roberts, £2; Lloyd William Habgood, £3. Parked over time limit: George Wilfred Drayton, £5. Overtaking on intersection: Cantwell John Fogarty, £2. Not displaying L plates: lan Neville Murray, £2. Parked too close to corner: Alan Garwood Winnicott, £2. Parked in time expired metered space: Anita Lillian Brett, £5. CIVIL CASES (Before Mr E. A. Lee, S.M.) CLAIM FOR WORK DONE Franciskus Josef Bloeman, a contractor (Mr J. A. Johnston), claimed £29 5s from Victor J. Moir, Ltd., builders (Mr C. M. Roper), for work done. The defendant counter-claimed for £27 ss. Judgment was given for the plaintiff on his claim. The Magistrate held that the defendant’s counter-claim failed and he gave judgment for the plaintiff on the counter-claim also.
JUDGMENT FOR PLAINTIFFS Arnold James Harding, a plumber (Mr H. W. Thompson), was given an order against Mrs L. Neild, for possession of a flat at 61 Marshland road. The plaintiff was also given judgment against Mrs Neild for £6O claimed as owing for rent. O. J. Solomon, Ltd (Mr B. J. Drake), was given judgment against G. L. Spriggs and D. L. McJarrow for £163 19s 7d said to be owing under a hire purchase agreement on a car. Credit Services, Ltd. (Mr V. G. Spiller), was given judgment against John Denton, a driver, for £B7 9s 8d said to be due on a loan.
Cycle worths (New Zealand), Ltd. (Mr S. H. Wood), was given judgment against O. S. Livingstone, a painter, for £3l 7s 3d, claimed as owing under a hire purchase agreement.
