Sympathy March By Roman Catholics

About 40,000 male Roman Catholics today staged one of the largest religious processions in London for 20 years in a “silent march” symbolising their sympathy with persecuted Christians in Communist countries. The two-mile-long procession, which went from Hyde Park to Westminster Cathedral, included representatives of the Polish, Hungarian, Czech, and other European exiles. At Manchester, eight persons began a 688-mile walk to Strasbourg, in protest against “Russian aggression in Hungary, AngloFrench aggression in Egypt, and all acts of oppression in the world/’
