REMOULDING BUS TYRES
“ Ring ” Tenders
Received
“Ring” tendering for the remoulding of tyres has been experienced by the Christchurch Transport Board, which has decided to call fresh tenders for the work. Tenders were called for remoulding on the basis of a oneyear, two or thfee-year contract. All prices were the same, the finance committee reported to a meeting of the board, and the charges for a three-year contract (which were the cheapest) were exactly the same as those given to another undertaking which called for tenders at a later date on the basis of a oneyear contract. “It is felt that with the volume of business the board can offer, the price for a one-year contract should not be at a higher price than that of another undertaking, whose volume of business is much less than that of the board’s.” “Perhaps the firms know their own business,” remarked the chairman (Mr C. C. Holland).
