Petrov Found Drunk

CANBERRA, April 9.

The former Russian diplomat, Vladimir Petrov, who defected to Australia in 1954 was arrested for drunkenness at Surfers’ Paradise, in November last year, the Prime Minister (Mr Menzies) disclosed in the House of Representatives today. Mr Menzies was replying to a question by a Labour member, Mr Edward Ward. The question, asked some time ago, had been referred to the Commonwealth Security Service. The written reply showed that at the time of his arrest at the popular Queensland pleasure resort, Petrov gave his name as John Olsen. He failed to appear in Court to answer the charge and forfeited his bait
