Young Boxer's Varied Career
The Australian middle-weight champion, Billy McDonnell, has had an extremely varied career, Bithough he is only 20. Recently he was knocked out in five rounds hy the South African champion. Mike Holt, and was outclassed I from the beginning of round one. After the fight Holt, who had •carcely raised a sweat, said: That kid is good, he’s got a heart as big as a house and he iooks good. But let’s face it —he Wouldn’t be asked to meet tougher and more experienced fighters at this age. My trainer thinks that Billy should forget Bbout boxing for two years and then try it again. I agree with him.” McDonnell has announced he is doing out for a long spell, but whether it will be two years is Oot known. It capped off a career to which McDonnell won the national title at 18, was hailed "Australia’s greatest-ever Biiddle-weight prospect.” lost and his title from the Italian. Luigi Coluzzi. and made about £BOOO in his two years as a professional boxer.
