MOUNTAINEERING CLUB
Easter Training Plans In the past it has been the practice of the Canterbury Mountaineering Club to hold an Easter training camp for the instruction of young and new members in climbing techniques. This year, h' wever, the club has decided to make a new departure in this field. It is proposed to carry out training exercises for those interested by asking experienced club members who have planned definite trips to take with them one or two trainees who are over 18 years of age. Most of these trips will be up the Rakaia, Rangitata and Waimakariri rivers. For trainees under the age of 18 a trip over the Three Passes or some other pass, under the guidance of experienced and older members will be arranged if it is sufficiently supported. “There is no certainty at this stage on the numbers that will be taking part,” said the secretary (Mr C. Turner) yesterday. “It is expected, judging from past trips, that there will be a good turnout of younger members.”
