BURGLARY AND THEFT
Man Remanded For Sentence
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 21.
A Hungarian workman who, the police stated, is one of the refugees recently invited to New Zealand, appeared in the Magistrate’s Court today on a charge of burglary and one of theft. The accused, Mihaly Bede, aged 18, pleaded guilty to burglary and stealing a starting pistol valued at £2 Bs. He was remanded to March 29 for sentence.
The police prosecutor said that a man and his wife were asleep at their home in Kilbirnie when the wife awoke to see Bede standing at the end of the bed. The husband struggled with Bede, who dropped a starting pistol. Bede was caught by the police in the street.
