STORM DAMAGE IN TARANAKI
Rapid Repairs To Homes
(New Zeaiana Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, March 21. Rapid repairs to New Plymouth homes ’damaged by the tornado yesterday morning, sheltered families from another storm which lashed the city last night. Temporary roofing Was fixed on many houses, and scores of windows were replaced in a race through heavy showers to beat darkness yesterday. Last night, as- strong gusts of wind came with heavy showers and thunder and lightning, victims of the tornado wondered if they would be stricken again. In many houses, workmen had not had time to fix roofing securely, and corrugated iron sheets, moved by the wind, banged against rafters through the night. Several families, unsure of the strength of the repairs, slept with neighbours. One family spent the night in a small shed.
