Trust Hotel Opens In Gore

(New Zealand Press Association) GORE, March 10. After more than half a century of no-licence, Gore went “wet” today, when the Mataura Licensing Trust opened its first bars this morning. The principal speaker at the opening ceremony was the trust’s chairman, Mr A. L. Dolamore, but the speeches were brief, and little time was lost before the premises went into service. Pride of place in the opening and the honour of the first drinks went to a contingent of about 30 “old-timers”—those who were there when the district went dry, just after the turn of the century. ;
