OTOROHANGA MAYORALTY

(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 10. Mr W. J. C. Patterson (459 votes) was elected Mayor of Otorohanga on a provisional count after a poll held yesterday. He replaced Mr F. L. Phillips (385), whose election on November 17 was declared null and void. Three informal votes were cast and 74 declaration votes have still to be allotted although they cannot affect the result. Declaration of voting irregularities caused the voiding of the November 17 election after Mr Phillips was declared winner by one vote on a Magisterial recount. ' The roll on Saturday was larger than the previous one, with 871 votes cast, as against 677. Eligible voters numbered 1040.
