NATIONAL DRAMA FESTIVAL
LEAGUE COUNCIL’S DECISION
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 10. keen New Zealand festival, of ™J?fays on a national and provincial level was proposed at the annual conference of the Drama ; League’s national council, and it ’ was decided to plan a play-writing competition to be judged by a British critic, Mr J. C. Trewin. The conference also agreed to the printing of a volume of New ’ Zealand-written plays and decided to apply to the State Literary Fund for assistance. Prompted by the success of last year’s playwrights’ school at Wallis House, Lower Hutt, the conference decided to hold a simi--1 lar school this year during Queen’s ■ Birthday week-end. It was hoped ■ that the school would result in • the formation of a New Zealand ' Playwrights’ Association.
